To turn off AMBER alerts Public Safety Alerts and Emergency Alerts from the government open the Settings menu on an iPhone by tapping on the gear icon. Go to Settings Notifications. Under Government Alerts turn the type of alert on or off.
Unfortunately none of this applies to Amber Alerts or public safety alerts both of which will still sound when turned on.
Slide left on Emergency Alerts turn it off. Swipe right while on Today view to see the All view. Open Settings and toggle the Airplane Mode option on. Thats the Wireless Emergency Alerts WEA system at least in the United States although some other countries have similar systems.
